LONDON DAY 3

First on our itinerary today we headed to Sir John Soane Museum. Because his house is so small we had to split up and half of us went in and the other half went to the British Museum. My group started off at the Museum where we saw ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman artifacts and it was so interesting because I remembered a lot from Art History first semester at Utah State. Things like the Rosetta stone and the three maidens that were supposed to be part of the frieze of the Parthenon.

After about an hour we left the British Museum and went back to John Soane’s Museum. We weren’t allowed to take pictures but it was cool to see first of all the layout of an early English townhouse, and second all the artifacts that he brought back from his travels were very interesting to see. We only stayed at the museum for about a half an hour before heading back to the British Museum. I ate a really good hotdog for lunch and then went in a saw the African and Japanese Exhibits. Both Museums were really interesting but I felt like I had seen it all before.

We headed to St Paul’s Cathedral. Once again the cathedral was really pretty but I have been to so many churches and cathedrals that it’s all becoming a blur and we weren’t able to take pictures, which was also frustrating. However we haven’t climbed enough stairs yet on this trip so we all decided to climb the dome. It’s not as high as St Peters back in Rome but it was still plenty high.

After St Paul’s we went to H&M to see if we could find any cute cheap clothes. I was sadly disappointed but did buy a shirt and some leggings. Tomorrow is going to be one of the longest days of my life. We are getting up at 4:30 am to make a train at 5:45 to head to Birmingham, so we could go on a tour of Brinton Carpets.
